"Chateau Margaux 1848" location Tianjin China. This was a Lavish French inspired project, which the client insisted was to be set in Provence. Despite the fact that Chateau Margaux, is a prestigious red wine which is produced in Bordeaux! So as designers, a compromise was reached and we produced a Provence

inspired project, which encompassed the Design & execution of all public areas of this lavish, very expensive housing estate, comprising of 5 public buildings, & encompassing a full size swimming pool, (set in a rural French Barn, complete with a very large open fireplace) conservatory rest areas, using double glazing

huge wine cellar, snooker and private Ma Jong gaming rooms, large, well equipped gymnasium, yoga and ballet dance studios, VIP clubhouse and private reception rooms and specialist shop fronts (as in a French Village concept).

On completion, the client expressed his sincere thanks, that I had not accepted the easier lower standards of product or workmanship, common in China, but had demanded higher Western standards, sometimes necessitating arduous 6 hour meetings with the client's managers or contractors to make my point. A relationship of trust had been formed from the year before, and they acquiesced to my stringent design ethos, which produced a stunning result. If anything, the Chinese taught me patience.
